RECESSION IS TIME FOR PR CONSULTANTS TO SHOW THEIR WORTH
Monday December 08th, 2008 02:45 PM
While news of a further drop in interest rates will be welcomed by us all many businesses are going through a period of tough self examination as prospects of a prolonged economic downtown turn grow. Companies will be looking at ways in which they can either increase sales or reduce costs - and core areas such as training and marketing can often bear the brunt of a typical corporate response to an economic slow down. Experience, however teaches us that companies who have been imaginative with their marketing spend can often emerge from a recession in an even stronger position than before. It's an important exercise for any company to seriously analyse their point of difference from their competition and how they can add value in a time where business is ever-harder to win. A good PR consultant is often able to work a company through this process and from there develop a communications / marketing programme aimed at highlighting that point of difference and positioning the company better in its marketplace. I'm convinced it shouldn't be all doom and gloom. Good companies who know what they're about and can demonstrate a clear sense of value and differentiation will pull through. It's at times like this PR and Marketing consultants can show their true worth! DMcC |

A SERIOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Thursday October 30th, 2008 07:02 PM
Today is a very special day. Why? Because 365 days ago, give or take one or two, the serious journey began. It's been a brilliant 12 months and we have really enjoyed growing the reputations of a host of local clients. We celebrated with a cake - a big cake with lots of icing. Yummy! Thanks to all of you who've helped us get to this important milestone. |

FROM DERRY TO WASHINGTON FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!
Sunday October 19th, 2008 06:58 PM
The SERIOUS team has been delighted to spread the word about a significant new contract for a Derry-based manufacturer of polling booths which has delivered major tv, radio and press coverage.
Pakflatt, based in the Springtown Industrial Estate, and a neighbour of IT giant, SEAGATE, picked up the deal to supply polling booths to each of Washington's 750 voting stations - representing quite a coup for a small, independent business whose brand is clearly going places.
Our work involved extensive planning and prep work for the PR programme to announce the deal including working in tandem with a US based camera crew and some local partners to deliver video and press packages for use across the major electronic media and both national and regional press outlets.
Well done to Patrick and the Pakflatt team! |

SEPTEMBER UPDATE - PHEW!
Saturday September 27th, 2008 01:40 PM
AUGUST and September have been exceptionally dynamic months for Serious. Two new staff recruits, one promotion and several new clients have meant that we've been very busy.
Roisin Duffy joins us as a PR consultant, having come from a background working in places as diverse as Sydney and Dublin. Recent PR Graduate, Vicky Johnston joins as Executive Support and Alison Knox steps up to the position of PR Executive after 'serving her time' within the executive support unit.
Amongst the demanding new ongoing PR client briefs we have been awarded are Acheson Glover (UK and Ireland); Mesh Technology; WJ Law homebuilders and Dundalk Retail Centre for whom we handled the opening of retail giant, Currys in August. We've also become sponsors for the Wallace High School U15 boys hockey team!
As we come to the end of our financial year we are looking forward with optimism as we continue to be entrusted with growing reputations.
And visits to our recently updated website continue to soar with September hits being the highest ever!
